Introduction.

The purpose of the Monmouthshire County Council Vision Monmouth is "To provide a co-ordinated approach to the delivery of cultural, economic, environmental and tourism projects that together consolidate and enhance the presentation and prosperity of Monmouth as an historic market town"

Monmouth Chamber applauds the extensive consultation process adopted by MCC over the last 2 years and the constructive approach adopted in formulating the various editions of Vision Monmouth.

MDCTC welcomes the inclusion in this document, in whole or in part , of all projects put forward by the Chamber for consideration, with the exception of our proposal for the Development of River Activities.

The Chamber is particularly pleased that economic development is a concept referred to on numerous occasions throughout the document and that a representative of the Chamber can attend all Steering Group meetings.

We appreciate that Vision Monmouth is an organic and flexible policy document and that many of the strategy documents mentioned under Strategic Context on page 3 will be amended in time by policy documents covering different time periods and that this may require individual projects listed to be adjusted.

Conclusion

Vision Monmouth provides an expression of support for, and definition of the scope of, many projects of importance to Monmouth town by MCC. The Chamber fully supports the list of projects and the vision of the future expressed.
